How does TripVerde match ridesharers?

TripVerde has developed an algorithm that optimizes rideshare matches based on parameters that you and other TripVerde ridesharers provide. These include your city of origin, departure and arrival times, and preferences, such as whether you want to ride with a female or male, or the type of music that you like to listen to in the car.

Does TripVerde run background checks on Drivers and Riders?

No. At this time, TripVerde does not run background checks on Drivers and Riders.

How will TripVerde price my trip?

* Riders pay a fixed 12 cents for every rideshare mile.
* Drivers receive 10 cents per rideshare mile for the first rider and
3 cents per rideshare mile for every additional rider. For example, in
a vehicle with 4 passengers (1 Driver + 3 Riders), the Driver would
receive 19 cents per rideshare mile woth each Rider paying a fixed 12
cents a rideshare mile.

How do I pay or get paid?

* Riders pay the full cost of the rideshare no later than 4 days prior to departure using Paypal or any major credit card. You can make payment after logging into your ride request using the unique ride identifier (a 5-character code that identifies your request).
* TripVerde will send payment to Drivers within 2 days of trip completion, in an amount agreed upon prior to trip departure and based on TripVerde's pricing model.

How do charitable contributions work?

TripVerde offers you the opportunity to contribute to a worthy charity—Teach For America— when you rideshare to the Austin Marathon. If you choose to make a contribution, TripVerde will handle it. Here's how it works:

* For trips less than or equal to 100 miles one way: TripVerde will contribute 1.5 cents per mile to Teach for America.
* For trips greater than 100 miles one way: TripVerde offers you a choice to contribute 0.50, 1.00 or 1.5 cents per mile to Teach For America.

Any charitable contribution will add to the price of the trip.

What is TripVerde's cancellation policy for the Austin Marathon?

A Driver or Rider may cancel or change a trip on or before January 12, 2008 without penalty.

Does TripVerde keep tabs of my carbon footprint reduction?

Yes. TripVerde tracks the amount of fuel saved from ridesharing and calculates associated carbon reductions. Total carbon savings for a trip is fairly allocated among the Driver and Riders. TripVerde stores your carbon savings in a database, which is accessible to you if you are an active TripVerde member.
